And this is why, (in what you have expressed here) I have chosen St. Therese to be my confirmation name saint for my upcoming baptism & confirmation next year.

She has been such a good friend to me, leading me on, to kiss Our Lord's feet at the foot of His cross! After a pilgrimage to Lisieux this summer, my husband & I happened to be in England at the time when her relics were making a tour, and we went to venerate them at Walsingham. I went because I just thought I ought to not miss the chance, but it turned out to be one of the most spiritual experiences in all my life and I am still living out the blessings and graces received with thanks.

I'm so glad you chose to share this post.

ErinErin-Thérèsehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09417849540811873342noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4304674669591803672.post-29093284671474885282009-09-27T09:18:35.908-07:002009-09-27T09:18:35.908-07:00Erin, I like this post very much. Of course Christ can take away these natural effects (they are natural because all the accidents of bread and wine remain, and therefore all the power and effects of bread and wine), but it is strictly speaking a miracle. And just as he doesn't miraculously cure everyone who prays, so he doesn't miraculously safeguard everyone from those natural harmful effects.

Similarly, drinking the Blood of Christ from a common chalice with have the same likelihood of spreading germs as if it was not the Blood of Christ, but real wine... unless Christ works a miracle, and most of the time he doesn't. If there are precautions we ourselves can take, he wants us to take them, just as we should go to the doctor if we are (badly) sick.

That said, I think the precautions are in fact overdone, and not so necessary.Joseph Bolinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05690286644203137897noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4304674669591803672.post-21409127846670623232009-06-06T22:26:04.475-07:002009-06-06T22:26:04.475-07:00Hi! I was so disappointed because even though I know that she received the totality of Christ in His Body, she only gets one First Communion. The saints are set up as the stars in heaven to guide us on our course, and it is beautiful how at certain times in our lives, some twinkle and shine so brightly for us.

I was also distraught to hear about Obama's apparent 'eagerness' on the abortion issue...but even more so about something I heard on the BBC over here. While abortion does not really register on the social or moral conscience of this very secular nation, and it is already relatively easy to have one performed, abortions are now going to be offered at GP's offices. That means you can go into your normal family doctor and have an abortion performed almost as a matter of routine. Of course, this is also free on the NHS, paid for by the taxpayer.

As I head home this week I am hoping our own country is not taking another step towards this direction...

Keep praying, as no miracle is too 'little' for Our Lord.

--ErinErin-Thérèsehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09417849540811873342noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4304674669591803672.post-19596686119927520212009-01-23T21:19:00.000-08:002009-01-23T21:19:00.000-08:00Ooooo, very cool..I like the Solanus Casey quote! ...Ooooo, very cool..I like the Solanus Casey quote!
